The Human Rights Officer will report to the Regional Representative of the Regional Office for Southern Africa (ROSA) of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), located in Pretoria, South Africa and the Senior Human Rights Adviser, located in Maputo.   Responsibilities:
  • Reviews, monitors and evaluates activities relating to the implementation of international human rights instruments, including recommendations of treaty bodies and mechanisms of the Human Rights Council
  • Supports the work of treaty-established bodies and extra-conventional mechanisms and special procedures
  • Prepares relevant human rights parts of reports for the General Assembly, HRC, etc. notes on the status of ratification of human rights instruments, etc.
  • Oversees the OHCHR Mozambique project and meets regularly with UN staff, national officials, civil society representatives, and donors to plan projects and review project activities
  • Works with UN and non-governmental programmes in the country/region to integrate human rights, including their gender dimensions in their programs; helps design and implements the human rights program and designs the organization and focus of the evaluation
  • Ensures up-to-date information regarding substantive matters in the field of human rights and makes recommendations on actions to take
  • Makes contact with other sectors of the UN, other international organizations and governments on coordination and policy matters; brief representatives and provides, as appropriate suggestions and recommendations
  • Assists country military and police to develop and implement a training program in the field of human rights, international humanitarian law, democracy and the rule of law, with attention to gender perspectives
  • Serves as project coordinator with responsibility for carrying out, in consultation with the Senior Human Rights Adviser and the Regional Office, work coordination and administrative functions relating to the staff, planning and budget

У каждого разные возможности и способности, поэтому у кого-то уйдет на все задачи 6 часов, а у кого-то - 10. Поэтому не стоит ориентироваться на часы. Важно не время выполнения, а факт. Нельзя не покормить собак или не убрать у них. Представьте, что вы приходите в многодетную семью, где даже если вы плохо себя чувствуете, дети должны быть накормлены.   Условия: На территории оборудован душ и туалет, есть кухня для приготовления завтрака, обед и ужин предоставляют. График работы волонтера:
  • с 8:00 до 12:00 - рабочее время
  • с 12:00 до 13:00 - обед

Monitors and evaluates the impact of the training modules; takes corrective action as required; proposes improvements
  • Contributes to the implementation of UNDRR’s global strategy for capacity development aimed at strengthening the capacities of governments, key counterparts and stakeholders at all levels in disaster risk reduction and to the implementation and monitoring of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030), with a focus on North-East Asia. Participates in the development and implementation of a capacity building and training programme carried out by the Global Education and Training Institute (GETI), based on the UNDRR global capacity development strategy, and building on the synergies and complementarities of various capacity building and training initiatives by other partners

  • Ensures and manages the efficient and effective provision of all logistics, technical and operational support services within the Service Delivery Pillar and to the mission as a whole
  • Maintains a close, cooperative relationship between mission support, MSD service and other section chiefs to ensure that the demands for goods and services are delivered in a timely manner through the Service Delivery Pillar and co-ordination of day to day support services at Mission Headquarters and Sectors/Field Offices; implements UNHQ policy and develops mission procedures to ensure support services satisfy UN regulations and rules
  • Develops, prepares, coordinates and monitors the service delivery workplan and overall technical, operational and logistic support plans for all locations of the mission with his/her subordinate supervisor's and identify and resolve urgent operational needs
  • Advises senior management (CMS, Head of Military or Police Components or any other relevant civilian Head of Component), on support services management and ensure that staffing levels are at all times, adequate to meet the requirements of the mission support concept

The Branch is responsible for the information and outreach work of the Office, including communications and public information activities, as well as strategic partnership-building on behalf of the Office. The Branch provides substantive and Secretariat support to the Secretary-General’s Advisory Board for Disarmament Matters.   Responsibilities:
  • Formulates, implements and supervises the substantive work programme of the Branch
  • Oversees the management of activities undertaken by the Branch, ensures that all programmed activities are carried out in a timely fashion and in coordination with different departments, offices and agencies of the United Nations, regional organizations, Member States, and diverse partners, as appropriate
  • Leads, supervises and carries out the work programme of the Branch under the Chief’s responsibility. Coordinates the work carried out by different work units under the Branch, including the three regional centres for peace and disarmament and the Vienna Office, and provides programmatic/substantive reviews of the drafts prepared by the same
  • Coordinates the work and implementation of activities of the three United Nations regional centres for peace and disarmament and the Vienna Office, including fundraising strategies and efforts, and reviews project proposals and makes recommendations, as appropriate
  • Coordinates and oversees the preparation of reports for presentation to intergovernmental bodies such as the General Assembly and its First Committee, Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budget Questions, Committee for Programme Coordination, and other policy-making organs, as appropriate, and appears before such bodies as necessary
  • Ensures that the outputs produced by the Branch and the three United Nations regional centres for peace and disarmament and the Vienna Office maintain high-quality standards; that reports are clear, objective and based on comprehensive data. Ensures that all outputs produced by the entities under the Chief’s supervision meet required standards before completion to ensure they comply with relevant mandates
  • Prepares the work programme of the Branch, determining priorities, and allocating adequate resources for the completion of outputs and their timely delivery
  • Undertakes or oversees the programmatic/administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Branch, the three regional centres and the Vienna Office, including preparation of budgets, reporting on budget/programme performance, resource mobilization, evaluation of staff performance (PAS), interviews and evaluation of candidates for job openings, and preparation of inputs for results- based budgeting
  • Recruits staff, taking due account of geographical balance, gender parity and other factors related to diversity and inclusion
  • Manages, guides, develops and trains staff under the Chief’s supervision
  • Fosters teamwork, collaboration and communication among staff in the Branch, as well as the three regional centres and the Vienna Office and across organizational boundaries, and promotes an enabling environment
  • Leads, coordinates and supervises the organization and management of meetings, seminars, outreach activities etc. on substantive issues
  • Participates in international, regional or national meetings and provides programmatic/substantive expertise on an issue, or holds programmatic/substantive and organizational discussions with representatives of other institutions
  • Represents the Office for Disarmament Affairs at international, regional or national meetings

Education:
  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in international affairs, economics, life sciences, business administration, political sciences or related area
  • A first- level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
Work Experience:
  • A minimum of fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in international relations, disarmament, international security, development, conflict resolution or related area is required, at least five of which at the international level
  • Experience in team management, including strategy, budget and human resources management, is required
  • Experience in leadership in a multi-cultural setting, including coordination of cross-functional teams, is required
  • Experience in managing strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders is desirable
  • Experience designing and delivering regional or country-specific projects/programmes, including resource mobilization, is desirable
  • Management experience in the UN system or a comparable international organisation is desirable
Languages:
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat
  • For the position advertised, fluency in English is required; and knowledge of French is desirable
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage
