This position is located in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), Nicosia. The Chief of Unit, Service Delivery heads the Service Delivery Pillar of the mission under the Office of the Chief of Mission Support (CMS). The incumbent will report to the Chief of Mission Support (CMS) or his/her designate.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures and manages the efficient and effective provision of all logistics, technical and operational support services within the Service Delivery Pillar and to the mission as a whole
- Maintains a close, cooperative relationship between mission support, MSD service and other section chiefs to ensure that the demands for goods and services are delivered in a timely manner through the Service Delivery Pillar and co-ordination of day to day support services at Mission Headquarters and Sectors/Field Offices; implements UNHQ policy and develops mission procedures to ensure support services satisfy UN regulations and rules
- Develops, prepares, coordinates and monitors the service delivery workplan and overall technical, operational and logistic support plans for all locations of the mission with his/her subordinate supervisor's and identify and resolve urgent operational needs
- Advises senior management (CMS, Head of Military or Police Components or any other relevant civilian Head of Component), on support services management and ensure that staffing levels are at all times, adequate to meet the requirements of the mission support concept
- Prepares budgetary requirements for Service Delivery pillar, submitting budget performance reports and contributing to Mission overall budget submission in close coordination with Mission Service Chiefs and CMS; acts as Certifying Officer for the budget allocation to Mission Service Delivery
- Plans and implements logistics support services for deployment of civilian, military and police deployments in all sectors of the Mission; ensures that logistical requirements take account of gender-specific needs; works in close collaboration with CMS and HRS in workforce planning
- Performs other related duties including deputizing for CMS as required

Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, engineering, logistics, medical, aviation or related field
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
Work Experience:
- A minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in at least three of the logistics service delivery areas: fleet management, air operations, logistics, medical services, construction, building management or facilities management, conference services, rations, fuel, or contracts management is required
- At least four (4) years of management experience in the area of service delivery is required
- At least two (2) in managing service delivery operations in an international environment is required
- Experience in managing complex service delivery operations in a conflict or post-conflict environment with scarcity of resources is desirable
- Experience in planning, deployment or sustaining field operations is desirable
- Experience in planning and supporting Engineering functions in an international operational environment is desirable
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat
- For the position advertised, fluency in English is required
