В Организацию Объединённых Наций (в Южную Корею) требуется Programme Management Officer.

 

The position is located at the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Risk Knowledge, Monitoring and Capacity Development Branch, Incheon, Republic of Korea. The Programme Management Officer reports to the Head of Office, Incheon.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to building partnerships in areas of the office responsibility, in particular with experts and identified key stakeholders in disaster risk reduction in North-East Asia. Contributes to initiatives to build community of practices across countries in North-East Asia and promotes best practices. In close collaboration with the Knowledge Management section, ensures the contribution of North East Asia to the collection and capture of good practices and case studies in disaster risk reduction, to be used for capacity building programmes, advocacy campaigns and other relevant knowledge and communication platforms in UNDRR
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of training modules on Sendai Framework implementation and monitoring, at global, regional, national and local levels, with a focus on North-East Asia, that are consistent with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and the New Urban Agenda. Monitors and evaluates the impact of the training modules; takes corrective action as required; proposes improvements
  • Contributes to the implementation of UNDRR’s global strategy for capacity development aimed at strengthening the capacities of governments, key counterparts and stakeholders at all levels in disaster risk reduction and to the implementation and monitoring of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030), with a focus on North-East Asia. Participates in the development and implementation of a capacity building and training programme carried out by the Global Education and Training Institute (GETI), based on the UNDRR global capacity development strategy, and building on the synergies and complementarities of various capacity building and training initiatives by other partners
  • Contributes to the work plan of the GETI at his/her level; ensures that outputs under his/her responsibility maintain high-quality standards; that documents, reports, learning programmes, resources and materials are clear, objective, state-of-the-art and comply with the mandates of GETI and of UNDRR. Contributes to activities related to work plan, budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.). May be requested to manage or guide junior staff under his/her supervision and/or recruit and supervise consultants/external service providers as appropriate
  • Carries out other duties at required

Education:

  • An advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) in development, environment, social sciences, economics or related areas is required
  • A first level university degree in combination with at least two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of a university degree

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in programme / project management, capacity development or related area is required
  • Experience in disaster risk reduction in required
  • A minimum of two years of experience in capacity building process and training delivery is desirable
  • A minimum of two years of experience with international organizations is desirable

Languages:

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat
  • For the post advertised, fluency in English is required
  • Knowledge of French is desirable
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage

 

Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
