Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi is looking for a
Specialized Awards Section Head.
Role Purpose:Manage and monitor planning and implementing all stages of nominations of Specialized Awards to ensure best participants and candidates’ selection, according to Literature Awards leading standards, practices. Monitor implementing all aspects and stages of specialized awards nominations effectively and with high efficiency in line with Abu Dhabi Arabic Language strategies, priorities and objectives. Facilitate the nomination processes and support Specialized Awards in strengthening their position and achieving their vision.
Key Responsibilities:
Nomination and Selection:
- Manage and monitor all stages of planning and implementing nominations for the Specialized Awards, including - but not limited to - reviewing nomination requests, approving applicants, and managing documents and files related to award nominations
- Manage and supervise development of guidelines and conditions for candidates’ selection in collaboration with relevant committees and stakeholders and according to the specified objective and practical criteria to ensure best candidates’ selection and implement selection processes according to the best standards and level of quality and excellence
- Lead setting and developing nomination procedures and processes for the awards according to leading practices and standards. Ensure all stages of nomination and selection are implemented as per specified deadlines
- Review reports and documents related to the Specialized Awards nominations before submitting to committees, scientific institutions, or the board of trustees, to ensure their accuracy
Relationships and Collaborations with Committees:
- Ensure all facilitations needed are provided to sorting and reading committees, and other committees. Manage implementing all necessary equipment, arrangements and reports to hand it to the committees according to the required requirements and details
- Manage relations with committees and ensure obtaining official agreements and necessary approvals from concerned authorities and specialists to accept the nominations according to the established procedures, terms and details
- Ensure that any necessary support is provided by the team to organize and manage the ceremony for the winners of the Specialized Awards in line with the best standards and expectations required to ensure the implementation of a high-level annual ceremony

- Lead setting annual goals and forecasts for award nominations, monitoring ratios and numbers of annual participations and nominations, and improve and develop plans to raise the number of annual nominations and the number of participations in the awards
- Manage and enhance relationships with academic institutions, publishers and other relevant stakeholders to raise awareness of award nominations and expand collaborations and partnerships
- Monitor and supervise efforts of promoting and announcing nominations for the Awards and in collaboration with relevant institutions, publishers and partners, and with the Center's specialized teams to encourage individuals and institutions nominations in various branches of the Awards

- Ensure effective cascading of the functional strategy into section business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing sectional strategies
People Management:
- Manage the effective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadership of the Section by setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff to maximize performance
- Lead the Specialized Awards initiatives for the assigned section, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements
- Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the assigned section to foster a value driven culture within the organization
Budgeting and Financial Planning:
- Manage the preparation and recommend the section budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:
- Manage and ensure effective implementation of functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned section activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction
Reporting:
- Ensure that all section reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet DCT requirements, policies and quality standards

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master Preferred) in Marketing/ Public Relations, Business Administration or any other degree within relevant industry
- Professional certification is preferred
Experience:
- At least 6 to 8 years of experience in Nomination management with at least 5 years of experience in a managerial position or any other experience within a similar role or industry
Skills:
- Language: full professional English proficiency both in speaking and writing; Arabic bilingual desirable but not mandatory
- Skilled in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
- High level of competency in relevant software applications
- Self-motivated with a proven ability to complete work in a timely manner
- Ability to quickly integrate with existing business software tools and knowledge of other relevant industry software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - including appropriate stakeholder alignment
- Evidence of creating, implementing, and managing policies and procedures
- Ability to multi-task and to prioritize work effectively
- Ability to work under own direction and high degree of initiative
- Knowledge in nomination and selection tracking systems
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of nomination and selection techniques
