FIFA and the Qatar LOC have created a new
Joint Venture which will be responsible for the operational delivery of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
This is a
senior role within the local entity Q22 responsible for overseeing the planning for, operation and the successful delivery of all Special Events for the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, such as the Final Draw, Dinners, Pre Match and Award Ceremonies.
They are seeking a highly stress-resistant, creative, independent and pro-active Special Events Senior Manager who will perform everything from generating ideas, preparing the operational plans, controlling the budgets, conducting tenders and contracting, assembling and managing the right team, coordinating the internal and external stakeholders to seeing the project through to the final stages of implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning, preparing and implementing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Special Events projects within the defined scope.
- Communicating and interacting with external and internal parties: suppliers, venues and local partners as well as concerned FIFA/Q22 departments.
- Developing concepts for Special Events, creative control and input to ensure a state-of-the art representation of the interests and messages of the Q22/FIFA.
- Monitoring, selecting and contracting the venues for organising the Special Events.
- Planning and controlling the budgets for the Special Events.
- Cost-effective management of all Special Events organisation to consistently achieve the recognised standards and level of expectations to satisfy both Q22/FIFA.
- Coordinating the activities of all Q22/FIFA departments involved in the preparation and implementation of Special Events.
- Preparing and developing the operational documents, such as operational plans, project plans, rundowns and etc.
- Identifying Procurement strategy; bidders, tender method, evaluation criteria, tender cycle. Involve Procurement and Legal for the Tendering and Contracting of suppliers and service providers for Special Events.
- Managing the multiple suppliers, conducting regular update meetings, coordinating the implementation process, supervise payments, acts, reports etc.
- Managing the dedicated team of 4 people (1 Event Managers, 3 Event Coordinators): setting the tasks, organising the workflow, distributing the workload, controlling, reporting, follow-up, debriefing.
Project management and coordination:
- Taking the lead of Special Events on specific projects.
- Coordinating between Q22, Host Country and FIFA on overall approach and implementation strategy for Special Events.
- Organising and participating in regular Review, Project Team, Status Update meetings.
- Reporting on project progress, update and alignment of all stakeholders to Q22/FIFA Management.
- Acting as focal point for all Special Events issues for Q22/FIFA functional areas.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 8 years as Event Manager in sport/event organisation, or in major projects on the international stage, preferably in the world of sport
- Experience with the organisation of international draws and ceremonies
- Experience in managing multiple projects and extensive budgets
- Good Project Management and organisational skills
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to think and act in a structured and conceptual manner
- Good analytical and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work in and manage a team (a minimum of 3 years’ experience) as well as several suppliers
- Ability to set priorities effectively as well as working under pressure
- Quick grasp of new tasks and high level of flexibility
- Excellent language skills in English and additional language proficiency would be an added value.
