Wallarm is a well-funded technology startup with HQ in San Francisco and the engineering team based in Moscow. Now the company is looking for a CTO.
What you will do
We are looking for a trustworthy and proactive engineering manager with many years’ engineering experience and proven leadership skills. You will be reporting to the HQ-based CEO of the company. You will be managing several development teams (backend, frontend, node), a DevOps team and a Technical Support team. In this position, you will play a key role in the overall success of our organization by planning, managing, and monitoring engineering functions. You will be responsible for making any necessary adjustments in order to ensure successful completion.
To be successful as an engineering manager, you should have exceptional foresight, great communication skills, a working knowledge of different engineering disciplines and how they relate to one another, and an aptitude for managing risk. You should have prior organizational leadership experience, be able to collaborate with team members, and be a strategic problem-solver. Ultimately, a top-notch engineering manager should demonstrate excellent ability to connect with other engineers and developers, and have a solid foundation in software design.
Engineering Manager Responsibilities
Serve as the engineering leader and technical expert
Lead the teams through management and mentorship
Answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering team members
Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by
Plan and execute strategies for completing projects on time
Determine the need for training and talent development
Ensure products have support of upper management
Provide clear and concise instructions to engineering teams
Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs
Hire engineering staff members
Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes
Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors
Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally
Job requirements
VP Of Engineering 4+ years
Master’s degree in the engineering field
Extensive experience in working with stakeholders to create hiring strategies to develop quality teams
Experience in recruiting engineers
Many years’ engineering experience
Proven supervisory and technical skills
Previous working experience in software design and developing customer-orientated platforms
Must be knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices, and change management
Must come highly-recommended.
