Job Purpose and Impact:Supports groups(s) and/or centralized sales organization strategies by aligning all tactical sales objectives and activities as well as contributes to the development of the overall strategy of Retail business: Purina (backyard), Petfood, Hercules (Oats). The role is responsible for the P&L results for the entire product line. Must develop an understanding of all the critical facets of the current and future issues impacting the industry across Russia and other geographies within Eastern Europe, understand customer needs and that local and global product offerings match those needs and give us a unique value positioning in the market. Responsible for developing the team and building the capabilities required to make us successful. Due to JV structure in Klin (Hercules) Production Facility, this role will also need to facilitate communication (both written and face-to-face) between Cargill and the JV partner (United Grain Company). Should Cargill choose to choose to change the ownership structure of this Joint Venture, this role would play a critical role in exploring and executing strategic alternatives.
Will sit on the Russian Local Accountability Team.
Key Accountabilities:
- Leads the strategic development, tactical deployment and execution of sales plans and goals. Ensures that the sales organization/teams continuously build and develop integrated relationships with external/internal customers
- Design, develop and ensure execution of regional and local marketing and sales short/medium and long term action plans, in order to keep and improve our market share, sales and distribution in a profitable manner and grow profitability of the product line, including people, product and program development. Responsible for P&L results of the product line
- Translates long-term sales strategy into defined and quantifiable sales objectives, goals and definition of targets (i.e. growth rate, gross-margin contribution, profit criteria, revenue). Responsible for the development and execution of the detailed plan of activities to pursue, reassess, and ensure sales targets and goals are achieved
- Partners with cross-functional stakeholders to provide direct input and support to the product line strategy, to support the innovation pipeline, and to ensure a constant stream of new products/services aimed at adding value to the product line portfolio
- Together with marketing, develops and implements brand campaigns to maximize business growth
- Develop tactics focused on creating value for customers and define requirements for market offerings, including product, service and cost dimensions, marketplace awareness efforts and measurement of customer satisfaction
- Personally responsible for key account’s management and maintaining key account relationships
- Margin management (pricing), product positioning, promotional campaigns and other related duties
- Deploys the “Cargill Sales Effectiveness Framework” and drives team work culture and alignment to goals
- Responsible for the onboarding and safety cultures of team in the region. Coaches and develops the sales team and defines career growth paths (directly or indirectly)
- Helps the Managing Director explore and assess strategic alternative options for ownership of Klin (Herkules) Production Facility
- Leads exploration and business development opportunities in select regions of the former Soviet Union (e.g., Kazakhsatan, Uzbekistan, etc.)
Qualifications
Min. Qualifications:
- 8-10+ years of experience in marketing and sales with a track record of being able to grow a sustainable business
- University degree (Bachelor, MS or higher), preferably in business administration or marketing
- Ability to develop, communicate and execute a strategic vision for consumer and behavioral based segments to create a competitive advantage in the targeted EMEA countries
- Proven experience in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key clients
- In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis and how to apply this data
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Entrepreneurial mindset
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, train and develop diverse teams and influence them at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial elements of the business, including budgets, product margins and credit risk (P&L responsibility for the entire product line)
- Negotiation and conflict management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as Sales leader in FMCG type of business
- Fluent in English & Russian is must, Polish/Hungarian is preferred
- Experience in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)
