World Food Programme is currently looking for a Head of Diversity and Inclusion.
JOB PURPOSE:
This role will serve as a thought leader partnering with other senior managers and partners to bring breakthrough progress in how WFP addresses Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), building on the current initiatives on cultural change in terms of inclusion, racial equity, gender equality, disability inclusion and every D&I dimension across its worldwide operations and 20,000 employees. This position will lead the team working on D&I within the organization.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Drive strategic engagement with most Senior Management and relevant stakeholders across the organization to build and deliver on a multi-year roadmap to advance towards D&I commitments and results.
Forge and build relationships across the organization with key stakeholders and become a change agent to build on existing initiatives and deliver on WFP’s priorities on D&I.
Lead and shape WFP’s change agenda in the ongoing areas of work to address racial equity and anti-racism, disability inclusion, gender equality and a cultural shift towards an inclusive and respectful work culture in line with WFP’s mission, vision and core values.
Lead coordinate strategic oversight and implementation of organizational change priorities in the areas of D&I.
Develop rigorous accountability and progress measurements providing management with meaningful data analysis on achievements and barriers to progress towards a more diverse workforce and inclusive work environments.
Lead the D&I team to review current procedures and policies, assessing and analysing the extent to which they support or hinder WFP’s diversity and inclusion goals.
Ensure excellent guidance and support is provided to Divisions, Regional Bureaux and Country Offices regarding the development of diversity and inclusion initiatives to achieve targeted outcomes.
Partner with HR colleagues to integrate diversity and inclusion principles and best practices across all people management endeavours including talent acquisition, performance management, learning, recognition, people operations and professional development practices that are grounded in equitable and sustainable methodologies.
Contribute to the design and institutionalization of learning and development initiatives to strengthen diversity, inclusion, racial equity and gender equality in the workplace, with specific focus on equitable hiring, retention and promotion of staff from diverse backgrounds.
Lead the development and coordination of consistent and impactful organization-wide communication of workforce inclusion and diversity. Partner with internal and external stakeholders and communications teams to develop the most effective approach.
Oversee WFP workforce reports for UN-wide efforts on diversity and inclusion such as UNSWAP (Gender) and UN Disability Inclusion.
Establish and maintain partnerships internal and external to the UN to identify areas for potential collaboration and oversight of developments and actions in terms of inclusion and diversity.
Develop a base of best practice knowledge and evidence-based approaches to organizational diversity, including through building and maintaining networks of senior D&I professionals in other international organizations, private companies, academia, etc.
Facilitate knowledge sharing amongst management, staff and the WFP community at large.
Represent WFP in the working groups/task forces within UN inter-agency mechanisms and fora.
Lead the D&I team to ensure the most impactful prioritization and focus of the areas of work.
Model and actively champion behaviours advancing diversity and inclusion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: University degree in Social Sciences, Human Resources Management, Psychology, Adult Education, Gender Studies, Development studies or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 11 years or more, (of which six international) of senior level experience in a relevant in the area of D&I and Culture Change. Management role in D&I in a large organization is required. Extensive experience leading multicultural teams and improving performance and motivation.
Knowledge & Skills:
A proven track record in leading organizational development and implementation of diversity and inclusion, racial equity and gender equality strategies. Experience in anti-racism programs highly desirable.
Best practice D&I, racial equity and gender equality leadership expertise covering strategy development, action planning and implementation.
Experience carrying out D&I implementation in complex international organizations or large global corporations with a diverse and global footprint.
Exceptional ability to drive ideas to execution and deliver results.
Strong personal credibility and influencing skills, with a proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior managers in order to realise outcomes, with a transferable passion for D&I, racial equity and gender equality.
Excellence in leading, coaching and motivating diverse teams and drive improving performance.
Language:
Fluency (level C) in English.
Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language, Portuguese highly desirable.
