DESCRIPTION
The Memorial Augustaschacht is situated in Ohrbeck (near Osnabrück). During National socialism, more than 2000 teenagers and men from more than 17 nations were detained in the forced labour camp Ohrbeck. Tasks of the volunteer are: Assistance in the archive and in the memorial site. Give guided tours of the exhibition and the site, visit schools, and take part in seminars and other programmes of the memorial site, such as summer camps. Accompanying former prisoners who are visiting the memorial site.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
We pay for our volunteer’s travel from their home country to Germany and back home at the end of the year. We provide single room accommodation in shared housing, a monthly travel card and a monthly allowance for food and pocket money.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
In addition to the two ESC seminars, ASF offers four more seminars for the volunteers to deal with questions of remembrance and learning from each other.
