FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 seacrhes for Sustainability Coordinator to join their team emergently!
Key Responsibilities:
Sustainability Coordinators will work under the supervision of Q22 Sustainability managers to ensure competition and non-competition site operations:
- Reduce and eliminate venue environmental impacts
- Respect and protect venue users’ human rights
- Provide an inclusive and accessible tournament experience for all venue user groups
- Protect venue users’ health from secondhand smoke
- Comply with the FWC’s Sustainability Management System.
To achieve this, the Sustainability Coordinators will:
1. Monitor and inspect the following areas, as well as coordinate any associated improvements with relevant functional area leads:
- Environmental management: site environmental management systems and projects, including air quality monitoring and waste segregation for recycling operations in the case of stadiums.
- Accessibility: services and infrastructure to support disabled people and people with limited mobility, including delivery of Audio-descriptive Commentary (ADC) services for blind people and Sensory Rooms for people with sensory needs in stadiums.
- Human Rights: any adverse human rights impacts of the operation.
- Tobacco: Outdoor Designated Smoking Areas implementation and operations.
2. Manage the Mobility Assistance Services team of contractors and volunteers who support the journey of disabled people and people with limited mobility inside stadium perimeters.
3. Implement awareness raising activities, including appropriate placement of signage, related to recycling, site sustainability, accessibility services, tobacco and inclusivity.
4. Deliver on-site venue specific training on key sustainability topics to staff, volunteers and contractors as needed.
5. Support the implementation of the ISO20121 Sustainability Management System including provision of information to system auditors, data gathering for sustainability reporting, and supplier sustainability performance monitoring as needed.
Produce daily incident reports and final de-brief report per site.
Three Sustainability Coordinators will predominately support the following FWC 2022 stadiums:
- Ahmad Bin Ali
- Al Janoub
- Al Thumama
- Education City
- Khalifa International
- Stadium 974
One Sustainability Coordinator will predominantly cover non-competition sites, including:
- Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) that will host the International Broadcasting Centre and the Main Media Centre.
- Doha Exhibition Centre (DEC) that will host the Main Accreditation Center, Uniform Distribution Centre, Information Technology Command Center, Workforce and Volunteer Centre and Main Operations Centre.
- Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) that will host the Main Ticketing Centre.
- Training Sites.

Minimum requirements:
- A deep passion for sustainability, fairness and inclusion, and for leveraging the unique value of mega-sporting events to contribute to sustainable development goals;
- Ability to work and perform well in high-pressure environments;
- Positive ‘can do’ attitude when faced with adversity;
- Five years of work experience, including in subjects related to this job description;
- Proven customer service capability and experience;
- Proven ability to collaborate with others to achieve successful outcomes;
- Flexible style of working when facing constant change;
- Proven ability to be a great team player when managed by others;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Proficiency in written and verbal English communication; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
Candidates with experience in the following areas will have an advantage:
- Familiarity with FWC 2022 stadiums and/or non-competition sites;
- Knowledge and experience of how to promote and ensure diversity and inclusion during an event and/or business operations;
- Knowledge and experience of international accessibility standards and the provision of services to disabled people and people with limited mobility;
- Site environmental management;
- Sustainability performance management, reporting and communications;
- In-depth knowledge of the culture and governance mechanisms in Qatar and/or the region;
- Working in sports and/or events;
- International work experience; and
- Proficiency in Arabic.
