The International Barents Secretariat in Kirkenes, Norway, is seeking a candidate for the position of a Youth, Education and Culture Adviser for a two-year period, starting in April 2021.
Description
The main responsibilities will be to coordinate the work, and support the working groups, in the fields of youth issues, education and culture in the Barents cooperation.
The position is a secondment, financed by Finland.
The main responsibilities of the Adviser are:
To co-ordinate the work in the field of youth issues education and culture within the Barents co-operation
To assist the IBS in providing support the Joint Working Group on Youth, the Joint Working Group on Education and Research and the Joint Working Group on Culture.
To assist the IBS in providing support to the Working Group of Indigenous Peoples, when necessary
To maintain contacts and information exchange between relevant stakeholders in the region Other tasks as instructed by the Head of the IBS
The candidates should have:
First level university degree in related field;
Experience in multilateral co-operation, preferably Barents cooperation structures;
A good knowledge of education, youth and cultural issues in the Northern/Barents regions, and of cross-cutting issues, such as climate change and sustainable development;
A good command of English (oral and written), knowledge of either Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Russian or Sami knowledge is an additional asset.
