Abbott is searching for a Senior counsel patents.
Core job responsibilities:
- Conducting due diligence for in-licensed pharmaceutical products and product acquisitions
- Drafting of IP clauses and negotiating agreements; determining the impact of patents on the deal’s financial model
- Conducting freedom to operate assessments for generic and branded generic pharmaceuticals; develop patent risk mitigation strategies, communicate to business stakeholders and drive execution
- The candidate should be able to anticipate, identify, and manage risk effectively to resolve a variety of complex issues relating to patents, patent licensing, pharmaceutical development, regulatory matters, and commercial considerations
- Advises business partners, including senior management, and uses strong influencing skills to gain the commitment and support of different stakeholders to drive desired outcomes
- Timely advises legal department management of critical project developments May prepare and provide training and education to business and legal department colleagues
- Counseling internal clients on patent matters and supporting intellectual property aspects of research/commercial collaborations
- Has direct budget responsibility and develops and manages budgets for assigned legal matters
- Fosters strong working relationships with internal clients and provides sound, practical, and responsive support
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English
- Attorney registration in Russia or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical patent practice
- Bachelors or higher degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, or other relevant science
- Possess in-depth pharmaceutical industry knowledge, including licensing, acquisitions, and pharmaceutical research and development
- Must have recent prior transactional experience with significant client contact and responsibility at various levels
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and articulate recommendations and options clearly and concisely to a variety of business partners
- Ability to work independently on complex projects
- Ability to interface with outside counsel, vendors, and colleagues of all levels across a range of functions.
