Your responsibilities include, but not limited:

1. Develop Cluster Rare Disease Product Strategy:

• Together with the Rare Disease Head Region Europe and Rare Disease Brand Director, develops and communicates a clear business vision and strategy to the Region Europe Team.
• Ensures implementation of the regional strategy, business optimization and growth.
• Aligns patient identification and penetration targets within the Region Europe Team. Supports the annual franchise operating planning process and manages regular franchise business reviews.
• Gains in-depth, customer-centric understanding of the external environment, including its dynamics and drivers of change. Utilises this knowledge effectively to inform Novartis strategies, tactics, plans, programs and initiatives.
• Predicts future drivers of growth, identifies early trends and makes recommendations to capitalize on opportunities and minimize risks.

2. Support Strategy Implementation:
• Supports and funds activities to achieve patient identification, penetration, sales and growth targets for the allocated products.
• Ensures that plans/strategies are built around customer needs with appropriate external stakeholder input.
• Supports the development and management of strong relationships with relevant external stakeholders, including medical experts, patient advocates, regulators and payers.
• Effective leadership, management, coaching and counselling of the team. Sets performance management objectives based on relevant strategies/plans and assesses individual performance vs. objectives.

Productivity

1. Guides effective use of resources according to commercial priorities:
• Provides support in forecasting and optimizing resource allocation according to strategic priorities and areas of high impact.
• Contributes to optimal share and use of resources across countries, functions and programs, via active participation in strategy formulation, tactical planning, operational planning and budget process, and subsequent resource allocation.
• Supports KPI driven approach to monitor the execution of programs and plans.

2. Provides support to improve productivity:
• Shares lessons learned and best practices about innovative and effective initiatives across markets.
• Advocates the concept of customer-facing effectiveness and new commercial models to further improve external impact.

Innovation

1. Together with WWF and Rare Disease RE Team, ensures high level commercial preparation:
• Pioneers innovative approaches to the integration of clinical, regulatory and commercial inputs across all stakeholders.
• Provides regional input on pre-launch and launch activities for the allocated products.
• Develops new patient-centric products and service offerings.
• Provides strategic direction to maximize market presence and penetration.

2. Drives innovative approach and ways of working within the Region and Cluster Countries:
• Explores and advocates new ways of collaborative working, such as rare disease roles that combine multiple functions or multiple markets.
• Encourages the formation and collaboration of multifunctional and cross-country teams to foster profitable growth and «one face to the customer».
• Eager to innovate, take risks, make mistakes and learn fast.
• Supports the development and implementation of innovative programs across disease awareness, disease understanding, patient identification, referral pathways, centers of excellence, and disease management.

People

1. Leads effective collaboration across functions, locations, geographical boundaries, cultures and languages:
• Communicates the strategic business priorities in a way that enhances collaborative team approach and that galvanizes change.
• Drives the continued upgrade of customer-centric capabilities in the franchise, Region Europe and CPOs.
• Functions as a role model for Novartis Values & Behaviors, shapes and contributes to a positive, customer-focused culture.

 

You would be a good match for this role, if you have:

• University degree in bioscience, medicine, business, and/or economics.
• 6 years + of experience in executive positions within the pharmaceutical industry (Marketing Manager or National Sales Manager or Commercial Head or Medical Head) English — fluent written and spoken
• Extensive leadership experience, strong credibility as a senior counselor and proven ability to lead, team with, and motivate associates of widely varying backgrounds across a dispersed and matrix organization
• Experience with innovative projects and change leadership; excellent persuasive and influencing skills
• Rare disease or oncology experience desirable
