One of the world leaders in the FMCG industry Mars has opened a position of a Public Affairs & Sustainability Director.
You will be:
Drive partnerships with the Global and market-level Public Affairs, sustainability and segment Corporate Affairs (CA) teams, to monitor and influence (through external engagement) legislative/regulatory activities that impact Mars and its segments and advise the business on relevant issues.
Help identify opportunities for growth through the development and implementation of effective Public Affairs advocacy strategies in Russia through proactively integrating Public Affairs concerns and perspectives into Mars and its Russia segment’s business strategies and initiatives.
Representing Mars towards the Russian government, trade associations, and various other important stakeholders.
Ensure use of best-in-class public affairs and government affairs external advocacy techniques and strategies to protect and advance Mars corporate reputation and safeguard its operations.
Support Mars global and Russia segment senior leadership by understanding and capturing key trends/issues relating to key Mars policy objectives.
Drive the establishment of issue and stakeholder management strategies – including engagement with the Global Issues Management Team, Global Sustainability/Packaging, Russia Food Policy Group, RPAC and other relevant internal Mars policy groups. Ensure that Russia policies are reflected in broader global positions and provide support to ensure policies are coordinated and effectively advanced.
Advise and guide the business regarding external/internal threats and opportunities and create strategies to protect, enhance and/or accelerate business strategies.
Help anticipate and define issues/problems impacting the company and identify subjects/areas to bolster the corporate position. Be part of the “early warning system” of risks and opportunities across the region that supports proactive issues management strategies through global issue identification and mitigation.
Support connectivity with the global trade function, including advising on trade/trade agreements relevant from a sustainability policy perspective (carbon, etc.), transfer of goods, public health, and other key regulatory matters.
Partner with global and Russia CA associates to develop proactive strategies, positions and messages on key public policy issues and communicate those messages to critical stakeholders (i.e., policymakers/regulators, relevant industry groups/trade associations, NGOs, and media)
Launch and lead internal Russia Sustainability Policy Group, responsible for developing cross-segment, cross-function positions and strategies for implementation in Russia and for developing guidance for global Public Policy position development.
We expect:
Expertise in public policy, legislative and regulatory affairs, issues management, government relations, public affairs at least - 5-7 years of relevant experience.
University degree required, post graduate degree (law, public policy, ecology/sustainability) strongly preferred
Understanding of and experience in dealing with sustainability and policy issues.
Strong communications skills (writing, verbal communications).
Experience with leading multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to track projects with varying deadlines - hands on, fast thinking, and proven experience in project and process management
