В американскую корпорацию Automattic (WordPress, Tumblr) требуется Policy & Regulatory Counsel.
Company is looking for someone who is passionate about the open internet to help advance Automattic’s message before government bodies, as well as offer strategic legal advice to help Automattic do great things for the vibrant community users that company proudly powers. This is the ideal role for someone who wants to shape the legal and policy strategy for a dynamic and rapidly growing company, while helping to make the internet a better place. This position reports to General Counsel.
In this role, you will:
- Follow legislative and regulatory developments in the United States, Europe, and around the globe. Look ahead to identify trends and the implications for company and products
- Develop messaging around advocacy efforts, and partner with industry groups and thought leaders to articulate positions about the value of the open internet
- Directly engage with policymakers to advocate for policies that are important to Automattic and company`s values in government settings around the world
- Bring external perspectives back to Automattic to help sharpen company`s perspective and strategy decisions
- Work in close partnership with other members of legal, product and Trust & Safety teams on a broad cross section of issues, and to prepare for newly enacted laws impacting company
- Lead company`s response to inquiries from government bodies on issues like content policy, online safety, and privacy
- Develop and execute a strategy for participation in amicus briefs
Company`d love to hear from you if you:
- Have 8-15 years of experience working on legal + policy issues impacting the internet, with at least three years working with government policymakers on internet issues. Bonus points if you’ve led legal or policy teams
- Are well-versed in public policy issues relevant to our business including: open source, intellectual property, freedom of expression, Section 230, content moderation, intermediary liability, brand safety, and privacy + transparency
- Are experienced advising product teams on aligning product features with legal and regulatory requirements in areas like privacy, IP and content safety
- Are practical in addressing legal issues
- Are humble. You’re not afraid to ask questions or admit when you are wrong
- Have a healthy sense of humor, and an abiding spirit of idealism about your chosen profession
- Operate independently. You’re a self starter who can roll up your sleeves
- Excel at understanding complex topics and explaining them to others in clear, concise, terms
- Are a great writer
