PROJECT DESCRIPTION
We are looking for volunteers to participate in our European Solidarity Corps project From Europe to Vallecas (Youth and Children). The volunteers will develop their activities in different local associations (in Vallecas district in Madrid) and in a Youth Centre in Madrid. They will be supporting the activities in local associations, in school support and after-school activities with children and youngsters: Helping with the free time activities; Helping with the school support; Helping in other activities of the association; Participating in weekend trips and summer camps. In the youth centre the volunteers will mainly help with conversation workshops and special events organized by the centre. The volunteers will have an active role in the team meetings, in the preparation of the activities, planning, meetings with the educators and local volunteers and his/her opinion will also be considered. Volunteers might be very motivated with people at risk of social exclusion.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteer will get money for food each month. He/She will share a flat in Madrid with a volunteer of one of the other associations of “Coordinadora Infantil y Juvenil de Tiempo Libre de Vallecas” or with other local people or with other ESC volunteers. He/She will have his/her own bedroom. Due to high prices in Madrid, rooms have very basic conditions in lower class neighbourhoods and far from the centre of Madrid. Local transport: The volunteer will get the monthly transport card. Madrid is a big city so volunteers will spend a lot of time in public transportation.
TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT
Volunteers will participated in the training cycle of the program On arrival training and mid term evaluation, they are one week long and are usually in a hostel out of the city. He or she will have the chance to participated in other shorter trainings with the associations.
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
A very MOTIVATED volunteers are wanted, specially willing to work with children and youth with social and economical disadvantaged. WE DON’T MIND YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND BUT YOUR MOTIVATION to face challenges to work with our target group! Spanish knowledge is very welcome.
