Microsoft is actively seeking an Investment Finance Manager.

 

About the job

The Investment Finance Manager measures the return of investment of all investments made by the Area and uses this data to provide actionable insights to stakeholders in the business and in Finance to hold them accountable for long-term profitability and ensure company funds are spent in the most impactful way.

You have a growth mindset, act as an entrepreneur that drives business impact, and continuously learn and innovate. You are action oriented and able to build and deliver strong results through others beyond the team as well.

You drive digital transformation in the finance function towards data driven (Machine Learning) forward-looking insights. You also engage directly with customers and business partners.

 

Responsibilities

Prioritize and Partnership
Performs and reviews analysis of present and future financial performance, financial plans (e.g., expected returns, resource allocation, pricing, investment opportunities) and economic transactions (e.g., customer deals, commercial partnerships, acquisitions, etc.). Prepares and summarizes recommendations.
Measure and align investments to outcomes
Accountable for driving ROI culture and discipline across the organization, including leveraging standard way to measure ROI; be the champ for ROI process across Area
Deliver focused insights to the Area and subs to ensure maximum ROI and strategic focus — this can include all controllable costs (HC, external resources, discount, marketing, ECIF, Channel incentives). Share learnings of prior investments ROI across the area and drive improvements.
Focus on highest ROI activities of investment, which could be in marketing, ECIF, local channel incentive funds (inc RDO), including DWR/Strategic BIF matching processes and local ECIF, external resources, discount, Lifetime Value)
Chair and drive Area Investment Council, by providing overview of all available investment sources and the analytics to the CFO and business partners. Implement a governance structure and consistent investment decision process for the Area
Drive/Share/Grow community both at an Area and WW level of learnings/opportunities on investments and best practices
Identify investment & disinvestment opportunities across the Area
Collaborate with Corp Finance and Marketing team in driving and aligning infrastructure and taxonomies

Protect
Drives the right tone from executive leadership and ensures strict adherence and understanding of Microsoft policies on risk and compliance. Influences leadership to ensure compliance is a top priority and modeled throughout the organization. Drives a compliant culture through actions and decisions to instill trust. Advocates, educates, and promotes best practices and new developments. Encourages asking questions and identifying risks to compliance. Champions Microsoft privacy, security, and ethical standards. Advances key compliance initiatives.

Deliver ROI analytics to the Area CFO, M&O Lead for informed decision making.
Review process and track the result of investments vs. expectation across the area. Obtain learnings and leveraged for on-going decision making
ECIF execution against the strategic priorities
Influence high quality investment outcomes for area, vs activity and process

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
OR Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
OR equivalent experience.
Experience in Multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles is recommended
Strong understanding of P&L financial impact
Fluent in English.
