A global recorded music company Sony Music Entertainment is looking for an experienced Intellectual property lawyer.
Responsibilities
Draft and negotiate recording artist, exclusive license, and other agreements related to recordings, as well as songwriter, co-publishing, administration, catalogue acquisition, digital exploitation and other agreements as necessary.
Provide consultation, guidance and direction to division leaders on proposed and pending agreements, copyright terminations, and other various legal issues that arise.
Provide guidance to division leaders and other employees as to deal terms contained in prior agreements.
Assist with revising and updating standard contract forms used by Company.
Articulate sophisticated legal concepts and interpretations to colleagues and clients with limited legal knowledge.
Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualified candidate with 3+ years experience analyzing contracts, preferably contracts related to the music industry (intellectual property law).
Ability to analyze and provide strategic advice on a wide range of legal issues.
Familiarity with new technology and digital music environment preferred.
Strong negotiation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skill.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects required.
Self-starter who requires minimal supervision.
A keen interest in music and the music industry.
English language level not lower than upper-intermediate is required.
