BBC Russian Service has an opportunity for three experienced, versatile Journalists with a proven track record of breaking big stories who can comfortably work across all multiple subject areas and formats (longreads and investigations).
Role Responsibility
Your role is to produce special reports and investigations, ensuring that they meet the BBC’s editorial standards and are legally compliant. You will pitch story ideas with a clear dramatic conflict, ensuring the content meets the highest standards of language and audio-visual expressiveness, composition and drama of multimedia journalism. You will be expected to perform English translations of stories, where appropriate. You will utilise your skills in investigative approaches, including data journalism and FOI as well as using a wide range of contacts.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background in an investigative journalistic role, with a track record of delivering high impact special reports and investigations.
You will be fluent in Russian (both written and spoken) and have a good command of English language.
You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge of different investigative approaches, including FOI requests.
Excellent knowledge of Russian political, social, cultural and historical issues is important.
You will have practical experience in data journalism, especially in Open Source Intelligence skills.
Access to a wide range of relevant contacts is key.
You will have a good working knowledge of production and reporting techniques suitable to long form content on TV, digital video, online and other platforms.
Experience of live broadcasting, interviewing and reporting and preparing packages is a distinct advantage.
