An internationally diversified gold producer Nordgold is looking for a Head of Resource Geology responsible for leading, developing and implementation standard technical protocols on behalf of Nordgold’s Resource Geology Department.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development of a “best in industry” Mine Technical Services (MTS) system and policies
Develops and implements best business practices and policies that align with the organization’s overall strategy
Ensures optimal utilization and management of the companies MTS functions
Ensures all technical services teams are aligned with company strategy and policies
Manages the annual Business Plan and Strategic Planning Processes for the Nordgold group of mines
Ensuring NG operations adherence to Mine Planning QA/QC process and carry out regular compliance to plan audits
Develops collaborative working relationships with key members of the Nordgold Business Units
Perform annual Reserve statements. Perform feasibility studies and designs on applicable projects
Responsible for MTS employees capability development; sets up development plans, training and annual skills assessments
Sets performance targets and measures, monitors, and manages overall performance of the function and direct reports
Capability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creating, innovative and energetic environment.
Requirements:
BSc degree in Geology (MSc, post Graduate certification/qualification in Geostatistics is a plus);
From 15 years of Geological modeling and Resource estimation experience, with a strong background in Orogenic Gold deposits and similar mineralization systems in an Open Pit and UG environment
Ability to lead Resource and GC modeling systems implementation, quality control best practice and people development
Advanced knowledge of 3D modeling and Resource estimation software, e.g. Leapfrog, Datamine and Surpac (Geovia)
Experience in Grade Control modeling programs such as Datamine Ore Controller, as well as advanced knowledge in Grade Control design, modeling and quality control systems
Advance understanding of Geostatistical data analysis and software, e.g. Snowden Supervisor;
Advance experience in database management and database QA/QC systems, e.g. DataShed, QAQCR and MS Access
Good geological modeling skills and proven field experience in pit mapping and structural interpretation
Robust experience in Operational Geology and mine to mill best practices
Proven people management and leadership skills, including ability to drive and implement best practice systems and procedures
Strong presentation and report writing skills
AusIMM certification to be a Competent Person or Qualified Person under JORC, NI 43-101 or similar codes
Goals oriented, self-motivator with the ability to operate in both Corporate and remote Mine Site environments
Fluent in English (Russian and/or French proficiency is a plus).
