Function’s Role:
The role of a General Counsel is to stay apprised of all legal actions affecting the company, informing the senior executive of the status of legal affairs, managing the company’s legal team and providing legal guidance to the company on legal matters.
Responsibilities:
Legal services for the company such as contract review and drafting, corporate governance practices, claims practice, and employment law.
Regulatory compliance – compliance with external and internal regulations or laws, maintaining of respective disclosures or filings.
Corporate governance – compliance with state law and the company bylaws in holding meetings, notifying shareholders, holding votes, and disclosing information.
Employment laws –meeting requirements regarding workplace hazards, rights disclosures. Avoiding discriminatory practices when hiring, firing, or compensating employees.
GDPR:
Customer privacy –Complying with consumer privacy laws.
Intellectual Property –providing advice on securing and maintaining intellectual property rights, as well as not infringing upon the rights of others.
SoX – supervising of SoX related activities of the company
Requirements:
Law degree
5 years + experience in high-tech or IT companies
Very well organized, very attentive to details
Team player, great communication skills
Knowledge of international law
English – upper intermediate; fluent is an advantage
