We’re looking for an experienced Head of Animation Production to lead and manage a production team of producers, film directors and animators. The ideal candidate is a seasoned executive capable to build and lead the infrastructure, growth, and monetization of the studio’s production capabilities. This person must be highly organized, a credible leader, an informed mentor-manager, vastly creative, resourceful, and a strong relationship builder across internal departments. The role will manage several TVA projects, production teams. The Head of Production will ensure the streamlined operation of our animation productions from green light through post-production. This position will work closely with the creative teams, Executives and Department Heads to ensure the production achieves the highest quality possible within the approved budget and schedule. This role will oversee multiple types of animation projects, primarily television series, but also short form content, feature length content, specials, and other programming needs.
Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
· Supervise all aspects of their respective projects including, but not limited to: scheduling, budgeting, staffing, overseeing producers and line producers on current productions.
· Manage and assess schedules and reports, identify challenges, analyze risks, and work with the appropriate team to resolve issues, streamline processes, and foster innovation.
· Communicate effectively with studio leadership to surface production issues
· Prepare a project for active production by building the initial production schedule, budget, and staffing plan. Take a leading role in starting up the project by leading handoff meetings and building a production plan.
· Act as a liaison between the production team and the animation studio.
· Work closely with line producers, and key department heads to ensure that shows are produced at the highest quality possible within the constraints of the budget and schedule.
· Partner with production finance to create and refine schedule and budgets for all incoming productions.
· Accurately assess and forecast the staffing needs across projects, assigning ideal teams based on appropriate skills and level.
· Coordinate with finance and HR to ensure proper contracts are in place for the project. Be aware of talent contracts, animation studio contracts, and external vendor contracts that will impact the specific projects within this positions overview.
· Oversee, mentor and guide an interdisciplinary team across production, post-production, and content creation capacities.
· Foster a safe, harassment-free and productive work environment that encourages growth, collaboration, strategic thinking, and award-winning creative work.
· Research and introduce new technologies and techniques into the department infrastructure — Constantly create and evaluate processes, efficiency, and structure to help ensure the continued success of the department.
· Build and maintain a vetted network of freelance talent, ensuring the department can quickly scale up as workload requires.
· Collaborate with the Support teams (HR, Operations, TS and Pipeline) and HODs to ensure interdepartmental processes and procedures are seamless
· Reporting data to CEO.
· Make decision on production priorities and focus and communicate these to the team.
· Other duties as requested.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Film Production, Communications, Marketing or other relevant areas of study
· 10+ years of production and creative experience, producing branded content preferably within the animation and entertainment including but not limited to animation, TV commercials, TV shows, short and long-form content, web series, and interactive web projects.
· A confident leader who is adept at managing and mentoring people while implementing processes. Able to manage in an ambiguous environment with multiple stakeholders.
· Skilled communicator who is able to navigate difficult conversations with diplomacy and composure.
· Acquired budgeting mastery, easily capable of reviewing and accounting for all production budgets and margins.
· Critical and analytical thinking: must have a high aptitude for strategic planning and tactical execution on a multitude of simultaneous.
· Excellent organizational, production, and project management skills, and the ability to execute on multiple projects with competing priorities simultaneously in an organized fashion.
· Strong understanding of production insurance, labor law, clearances, talent, and union rules.
· A proven track record of setting up and managing complex productions from bidding through the wrap stages.
