The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is the world’s leading alliance of public service media organizations. The company operates Eurovision and Euroradio. And now you have an opportunity to join the team as a Head of the Union in Moscow.
The departments
EBU Moscow provides staff, equipment and resources for Eurovision News Events in the region and worldwide. They provide broadcast support services for TV, radio and digital platforms, serving the needs of the international news community. Services currently include support for breaking news and planned event coverage, including: location stand-ups, playouts, workspaces, live pool distribution, live-streaming, camera crews and editing, technical support, radio and TV studios, transmission facilities and bespoke services.
Tasks
The Head of EBU Moscow is responsible for all activity of the office; editorially, operationally, financially and legally.
Specific qualifications, skills and experience:
Education: Master’s degree
Languages: Excellent written and spoken English and Russian, basic French a plus
8+ years of experience in a news environment, preferably international.
7-10 years of experience in managing people (Proven track record)
Strong journalistic skills (including news judgement and writing in English) and demonstrable knowledge of global news and current affairs.
Experience working as a journalist in TV, Radio and/or digital newsrooms/teams.
Experience leading teams (line management is an advantage).
Able to work remotely (in distance and time zone) from line manager and HQ colleagues.
Knowledge of the broadcast services industry and proficiency in the latest broadcast technologies.
Strong negotiation skills, experience in contract negotiation an advantage.
Ability to prioritise tasks and those of a team, under pressure.
Experience of dealing with multiple stakeholders.
Makes good decisions calmly and quickly, even when limited information is available.
Experience of dealing with multiple stakeholders.
