The Zaonezhie Retreat, with its 14 rooms & houses, spa and restaurant, located in Karelia, will open its doors this Summer 2023 and is currently looking for a General Manager (preopening).
Overview:
- Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to lead the pre-opening team of new getaway destination, Zaonezhie Retreat
- As the General Manager, you will play a key role in creating and implementing strategies that align with the retreat's vision and goals and you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the retreat's operations, including budgeting and financial planning, hiring, and training of staff, and implementing systems and processes
- You will work closely with the owners and contractors to ensure that the Zaonezhie Retreat is successfully launched, meets its goals and objectives and is ready to deliver exceptional experiences to the guest that exceed their expectations
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality management and experience in both operational and strategic management. They will possess excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure. A passion for the industry and a desire to succeed are a must

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of a pre-opening budget and financial plan for the hotel
- Hire and train a top-performing team of hotel staff, including department heads and managers
- Oversee the construction and design of the hotel to ensure that it meets all standards and specifications
- Implement systems and processes for the hotel's operations, including reservations, housekeeping, spa, restaurant, maintenance, and guest services
- Develop long and short range plans for the operation of the retreat. Ensure the plans, once approved, are properly executed & ensure operational standards are communicated, trained, and maintained
- Collaborate with marketing to develop and implement a marketing plan for the hotel
- Work closely with the owners and contractors to ensure that the hotel is on track to meet its pre-opening goals and objectives
- Maintain strong relationships with guests, suppliers, and the local community
- Research of equipment, materials, supplies and methods, sourcing and negotiating qualified supplier or contractors' bids, reviewing contracts, and quality control during all stages of the project
To be successful in this position you will:
- 5+ years of experience in hotel or retreat management
- Preopening experience highly preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills and the ability to motivate and coach a team
- Strong financial acumen and budgeting experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Have experience in owning a project from start to finish
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Russian and English
- Bachelor's degree in hotel management or a related field preferred /MSc/MA is a plus
