Japan Tobacco International is seeking a motivated General Ledger Specialist to perform a variety of routine and non-routine accounting duties with significant accountability for the month-end close process.
Responsibilities include but not limited to posting journal entries, recording all fixed assets related entries, making account analysis and performing other GL activities on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis to support the closing process and financial reporting.

Responsibilities
Check the completeness and correctness of FI/CO/AA requests submitted by markets. Process journal entries in SAP system properly and timely;
Record all fixed asset related entries including asset card creation/change, capitalization of construction-in-progress, asset disposition and transfer, depreciation and amortization;
Perform month and year-end closing activities in accordance with closing schedule. Perform additional checks to ensure completeness and accuracy of the financial results for month-end close. Review reports for high variations and investigate causes.
Communicate with JTI Markets/ other depatrments to fix issues if any. Support Market Finance in accurate and efficient maintenance of GL accounts and resolving of outstanding balancing issues;
Assist related departments (Market Finance, Corporate Accounting, etc.) on internal and external financial reporting, audit requests, accounting issues and queries, general support and other ad hoc projects as necessary;
Collaborate closely with related departments to ensure that FI/CO/AA activities are performed in full compliance with IFRS and local GAAP standards;
Complete and maintain process documentation in part of FI/CO/AA activities. Analyse exiting processes to identify potential process improvements;
Major Requirements
Degree in Accounting or Finance;
At least 2 years of working experience in finance;
Strong accounting knowledge; strong math and analytical skills;
English language – Upper-Intermediate level;
Proficient in Microsoft Office;
ACCA/CIMA qualification or proven progress as a plus;
Ability to work under tight time schedules and to handle multiple tasks;
Initiative to implement changes and curiosity to enhance knowledge and skills.
