Qatar — Russia («QR») is set up under the auspices of the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation («Embassy»), with a mission to develop the bilateral business and cultural ties between the two countries.
Investment & Trade («I&T») is a result-oriented compact team and part of QR, which enables, facilitates and supports proactive development of concrete deals and connections between the Qatari and Russian markets. In this process, the team works closely with the stakeholders of many governmental, commercial and developmental institutions and enterprises in both countries, as well as the Embassy and the rest of QR. The I&T team possesses extensive knowledge of the Russian and Qatari markets, backed by robust analytics, and leverages its experience to cover the full process of business development and investment, ranging from market research, business matchmaking and investment origination to full transactional support for cross-border investment and trade deals. As a result, I&T is the go-to advisor and partner for investments and trade related opportunities concerning the two countries.
POSITION
Director of Research and Analytics to join the I&T team, with focus on establishment and proactive development of deep analytical support for the organization.

Ideal candidate will be a thoughtful, detail-oriented, data-driven and energetic professional, with excellent communication, presentation and data visualization skills, strong written and spoken English, deep knowledge of the Russian economy and key economic sectors, international exposure and at least 5 years of relevant experience in such areas as economic and investment research, consulting and strategy.
Responsibilities will include:
Lead studies into areas of economic cooperation between Russia and Qatar, identify priority industries and partners, barriers to cooperation and potential solutions
Build up knowledge base, develop and conduct presentations on Russian and Qatari economies, financial markets, economic sectors, and strategic areas of opportunities
Prepare periodic macroeconomic / investment overviews and insights into the Russian and Qatari markets, for external and internal consumption
Provide proactive research support for investment and trade related projects and business development, including market, company and people research
Provide ad hoc support with analytical notes on various subjects
Develop and maintain expert network for the benefit of QR and the Embassy, communicate with external partners in research, government, consultancies and other communities — in both Russia and Qatar
Provide support to other QR teams (e.g., science, education, technologies, culture, travel)
Manage standalone projects, such as in area of intergovernmental initiatives and platforms
Eventually grow own team to manage analysts to support growing workload
Manage administrative tasks, including:
engagement and management of third-party providers of research / analytical services and oversight of timeliness and quality of delivery management of subscriptions to paid content (analytics, databases, etc.)
This is a demanding position which will require significant working hours, as necessary, and will entail periodic travel in Russia and Qatar.
Applicants should be prepared to perform a test assignment (requiring up to 6 working hours).
