Roles and responsibilities
Develop the strategies required to achieve corporate targets, reduce waste, and improve efficiency including site closures and consolidation, transfer of manufacturing sites, site expansion and capital investments to deliver new manufacturing technologies.
Direct the efforts of plant managers and local teams to drive continuous improvement, achieving the goals of the organization, with safety and environmental, quality, customer service and costs.
Travel to sites within the Cluster to achieve alignment with local leadership on objectives, culture and continuous improvement. Develop local talent to allow for succession planning in addition to hitting short term objectives.
address operational issues by prioritizing resources, communicating across functions, and with key customers and driving continuous improvement through corrective and preventative actions.

Requirements
Director of Operations must have a balance of formal technical ability for project management and continuous improvement methodology but must also balance that with strong leadership and interpersonal abilities in order to effectively build a team of both skilled and unskilled employees delivering results across functions.

BS degree in chemical or mechanical based studies
Lean Manufacturing Study/experience
Leadership course/experience
Financial course/experience
Experience
8+ years managing a site/multiple sites in manufacturing environment
3+ years’ experience leading lean initiatives such as reduction in lead time, cycle time and/or WIP
5+ years managing a team of 500+ in manufacturing environment
5+ years P&L responsibility for operating budget
Preferred competences
Six Sigma Certification
MBA/Equivalent
5+ years continuous improvement program execution
Executive Education and/or formal MBA program.
