An exciting opportunity to join the World Food Programme team as a Director, Nutrition D2.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Formulate and implement divisional strategies, policies and plans aligned with the corporate WFP and wider UN strategies, policies and processes to ensure continuous support to field operations to meet the mandate of WFP.
Provide effective leadership ensuring the continued development and coaching of a diverse, cohesive and high performing team.
Hold accountability for standards, guidance and processes within the division that enable the implementation of best practice and high performance and at the same time ensuring optimal use of resources.
Improve capacity of food systems to deliver healthy diets through public policies and practices that facilitate access to safe and affordable nutritious foods, including information, advocacy and support to consumers and manufacturers
Promote and support country, regional and global efforts to scale up food fortification including the further integration of fortified foods within national safety nets and social protection systems.
Expand and support operational research to build evidence for the contribution of food assistance to nutrition solutions
Promote innovation across the nutrition portfolio including in the collection and use of data to inform WFP and national programmes
Effectively represent WFP in global fora and build strong partnerships with other UN agencies, NGOs, Member States, donors, private sector, cutting edge research institutions and other stakeholders
Ensure WFP programmes seize the opportunity to promote and deliver good nutrition
Mobilize and manage financial resources for nutrition, optimizing the division’s deliverables and support.
Lead the overall establishment and development of the division’s evidence-based policies and strategies for roll out and delivery for regional and country office implementation
Contribute to global action for improved capacity of food systems to prevent undernutrition
Identify and build productive relationships with a broad range of internal and external partners at the global level to promote WFP corporate strategies, transfer of knowledge and expertise, technological advancement and attract support for WFP activities.
Actively participate, lead or co-lead UN forums and clusters to ensure delivery of the broader UN mandate and effective WFP leadership in areas of specialization.
Take responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives in all areas of work, to ensure equal participation of women and men.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Advanced university degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Food Technology or other relevant discipline related to the functions of the position
Language: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language)
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
Minimum of 15 years of (of which 6 international) experience in the management of nutrition or food systems programmes, preferably both
Extensive experience leading multicultural teams and improving performance.
Excellent financial management skills and commercial acumen, with the ability to leverage external partnerships to optimize resources for WFP.
A track record of dealing with and influencing at the highest levels within and beyond the organization.
Demonstrated ability to deliver change and results in operationally sensitive contexts.
