А a publicly traded medical device company Align Technology is seeking a Director of Engineering for its Moscow part of Global Clinical Services team.
The role
This position will be in our Moscow office. The Director will lead a cross functional team of engineers (Development, SQA, DevOps) to deliver high quality products and services in support of corporate objectives. The Director will work with other technical leaders to ensure effective delivery of well-designed systems, keeping to tight timelines and providing first class support to our business partners. This role will require an experienced people manager with strong technical background who is adept at leading multiple teams, all with different priorities, while coaching/growing future leaders.
The Global Clinical Services is a multidisciplinary team that focused on building cloud services leveraging AWS to support clinical aspects of company business flows. This role will directly report to Director of Global Clinical Services located in our Raleigh, North Carolina office.
In this role, you will…
Product owner for Moscow Clinical Services team building & maintaining a micro-service infrastructure for connecting Align applications to core services while minimizing coupling between components
Directly manage part of global Clinical Services development team in Moscow, Russia
Contribute to global strategy for Clinical Services ensuring alignment with corporate roadmaps
Drive cross-functional planning and effective project execution across multiple engineering groups
Lead feasibility studies and other internal research/prototype projects delivery of corporate trainings and process development methods and standards for the team; continuously improving
Work with other groups leadership within and outside Global Clinical Services organization to define long term plans and strategies
Contributing to the selection and implementation of technical solutions, architectures, and system designs
Keeping up to date of emerging technologies in related areas
Track status and quality of Moscow Clinical Services projects
Communicate with management-level peers and upper management across the company
Estimating required future staffing to meet corporate goals and plans
Provide context to development teams by clearly and frequently communicating corporate and organizational priorities, projects, and roadmaps
Coordinate production support activities and prioritize issues to best support business operations
Create processes and supporting metrics to ensure efficiency and quality of application development implementation and maintenance
Create a culture of transparency by providing highly accurate and timely updates on projects, raising concerns as early as possible in the process
In this role, you’ll need …
Hands-on managment experience in coaching new managers to be successful engineering leaders
Be a proven technical leader who can work across organizational boundaries to solve complex business problems
Highly organized individual that can manage multiple projects in the context of shifting priorities and communicate at all levels of the organization effectively
Direct experience leading engineering teams; setting up best practices, measuring quality, delivering on time
Deep understanding of system design and architecture, e.g. cloud native, micro-services, REST, event-driven architecture
Clear understanding of modern regulatory trends in area of PII and PHI (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
Ability to identify and grow new leaders
BS or Masters in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering or similar technical field
15+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years’ direct people management experience
3+ years’ operating at Direct or Sr. Manager level
2+ years experience working with distributed teams
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to travel periodically (US, China, Israel); travel expectation less than 20%
Experience in building and maintaining micro-services architecture is a plus
Essential knowledge of AWS or any other cloud provider is a plus.
