SUEZ is a major player in environmental services. For almost 160 years, SUEZ has supported local communities and industrial companies in the management of essential services such as water, waste, and air quality. As such, SUEZ produces drinking water for 66 million people worldwide, recovers 2 million tons of secondary raw materials per year, and generates 3.1 TWh of renewable energy from waste.
Mission:
- You will join SUEZ Europe & Central Asia, a Business Unit (BU) seeking to achieve significant growth in its Water and Waste activities in the countries selected in the Group's strategic roadmap for the medium-term plan. The ambition is strong, and the BU wants to develop its activities in the following countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Serbia, Uzbekistan, and potentially Turkmenistan and Spain). But company also needs to keep a close eye on the market, so that company can potentially expand into other countries in the region
- The Development and Projects Director is primarily responsible for developing the projects/offers in their entirety from a technical, operational, financial, legal, etc. point of view, and for accompanying projects through to signature. In coordination with Business Development, will ensure Suez's growth in the region
Responsibilities:
- Together with the Regional Director and the Business Development, develop local contacts with government authorities, IFIs, potential customers and stakeholders
- Together with the Regional Director and the Business Development, identify business opportunities and potential partners and discuss them with the CEO and the sales teams
- Prepare the projects that are finally selected by involving the appropriate structures within the Group (EPD, E&C, Suez Consulting, 3S, Legal Department, Finance Department, Investment Department, etc.) and external players (legal and financial advisers, technical consultants, etc.) and coordinating their actions
- Acting as the local interface with customers, partners and stakeholders
- Accompanying the various stages of the project through to its conclusion and commissioning. Monitoring the budget allocated to the project and helping to draw up the project's business plan and P&L. Identifying the suppliers needed to complete the contract. Identifying sources of financing for contracts
- Participating in contract negotiations
- Identifying the human resources needed to manage contracts
- Ensuring that the necessary resources are in place to achieve the contractual objectives
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly and annual contract performance reports during the execution phase
- Represent SUEZ locally as necessary
- Contribute to discussions on the life of the contract (amendments, rescoping, etc.)
- Analysing contract risks during the project phase. Helping to mitigate these risks, while ensuring that the Group's rules and directives and local legislation are applied
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Security and the Environment, in application of SUEZ directives in the project phase
Which skills and experiences you will need to succeed in this role?
- 5 years' higher education or equivalent
- Solid technical, contractual, and managerial experience in SUEZ businesses (at least 10 years)
- Experience abroad essential (at least 5 years)
- Fluency in English and knowledge of the languages of the working region
- Aptitude for intercultural dialogue
- Tenacity and resilience
