Merck is searching for a Data Privacy Counsel.
Your Role:
- In coordination with our company’s global Group Data Privacy team, you will implement and maintain service portfolio elements and consult business partners locally under the framework of our global Data Privacy Management System.
- You will support and coordinate the local roll-out of global policies, processes, and guidelines and data privacy awareness training.
- You will identify and lead risks related to data privacy, give mentorship and collaborate with the senior management in Russia/CIS and serve as the primary contact in data privacy issues, following both our global framework and local requirements. In addition, you will provide central support to the local non-dedicated DPOs within the Middle East, Africa, Turkey region in specific tasks such as training, tools and systems requirements, policies and local regulations implementations, etc., and you will assess local legal trends and you work with the authorities in relevant cases.
- You will provide mentorship to the departments of the company, developing broader awareness and negotiating with external partners and customers.
- Being an active member of the wider community of data privacy practitioners and networks within the organization, you will collaborate closely with internal crucial partners and the Data Privacy Office.
Who you are:
- You have a University Degree in Law (or equivalent).
- You have at least 8 years of job experience with a minimum of 4 years in Data Privacy, preferably in a large company, law firm, or international environment working in a global matrix organization.
- You have extensive knowledge of Russia-CIS privacy regulations and good knowledge of European GDPR.
- You have a relevant background within Healthcare, Life Science, or Chemical industry.
- You possess experience interacting with senior management and other relevant partners.
- You have validated problem-solving skills and the ability to operate under pressure.
