About the role:
- The chief correspondent will lead Reuters’ coverage of oil and gas from Moscow just as Russia tries to pivot to China and Asia after 40 years of selling to European markets
- This is one of the most demanding and exhilarating roles in Reuters: At a time of momentous change, you will write the first draft of Russian oil and gas history for the world, explaining the strategic big picture while ensuring Reuters provides the swiftest and most insightful coverage
- Company is looking for someone who can explain the personalities, the power and the money to a global audience. You will be at ease snapping the intricacies of gas production figures, breaking news on OPEC+, Gazprom and Nord Stream or interviewing the CEOS who control Russia’s vast oil and gas reserves
- Company wants someone who can ensure Reuters is first on the biggest breaking news while pumping a stream of exclusives and deeper stories. Ultimately, you will explain President Vladimir Putin’s energy policy to the world
- You will be fluent in Russian and English, have superior writing skills on everything from snaps to deeper stories and manage the most talented team of energy reporters in Russia. Cooperation with Reuters broader energy team across the world is a major part of the job, including with the Russian Oil and Commodities News Service
As chief oil and gas correspondent, you will:
- Lead a team of talented energy reporters in Moscow
- Deliver the fastest and most insightful coverage of energy in Russia
- Work with the bureau chief and editors to deliver winning coverage
- Cut through the jargon and bring out the personalities who dominate Russian energy
- Deliver a stream of exclusives on Russian energy
- Uphold the Trust Principles and ethical standards of Reuters in every respect
- Ensure top energy news is covered with accuracy, speed and style
You will likely have:
- The empathy and experience to lead a team
- Extensive energy reporting experience
- A deep contact book in Russian oil and gas
- A willingness to work in Moscow for several years
- Fluent Russian and English are essential
- An ability to work calmly under pressure
- Graduated from a top university
