Job Purpose
Building on the existing football strategy, the Academy Technical Director will be responsible for the day to day running of the FC Akron Youth Development program. As the successful candidate will be assisted by a Russian (English-speaking) Assistant Academy Director, the main function of the Academy Technical Director is to oversee technical areas and the development of young players, while the Assistant will provide local knowledge, logistical and administrative support.
We expect this project to take several years to develop and would expect the candidate to be committed to the long-term construction of the Academy.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the implementation of a training methodology and curriculum for all age groups
Ability to lead on-field sessions both for player development and as a Coach Educator for Academy Staff
Develop relevant education materials and documents to inform the training, scouting and multi-disciplinary process
Develop and upskill both local and foreign staff members
Work with the Sporting Director on the pathway of the best young talents toward 1st Team Football
Implement a talent identification & recruitment program
Build, alongside the Assistant Academy Director, a network of regional grassroots clubs and schools to build the pipeline of future talent
Person Specification
Excellent command of English and the communication skills to relay information to the Sporting Director and Assistant Academy Director
An open-minded approach to living and settling in a new culture
An ability to demonstrate a high-level knowledge of training methodology and player development processes
An understanding of a modern multi-disciplinary approach – including understanding the roles of sports science, analysis, and psychology
Experience working in an Elite Youth development environment, either as a Head Coach, Coach Educator or Academy Director
An ability to document ideas and processes to implement a systematic way of working
The ability to deliver education workshops to the staff of varying ability levels.
